MEMPHIS, Tennessee – In a heartwarming display of community engagement, executive leaders from United Parcel Service (UPS) are set to visit Porter-Leath’s Early Childhood Academy in Frayser. This visit is part of the Read Across America event, which is celebrated nationwide to encourage children to read.
The UPS team, known for their global logistics expertise, will be sharing their time and stories with the preschoolers at the academy. Each classroom will have the opportunity to interact with the UPS members, who will read to the children, fostering an environment of learning and curiosity.
In addition to reading, the UPS volunteers are bringing a creative twist to the event with a Cat in the Hat ‘painting on canvas’ activity. This hands-on experience will not only be a fun artistic endeavor for the children but will also serve as a tangible reminder of the joys of reading and creativity.
Read Across America, initiated by the National Education Association (NEA) in 1998, is the largest celebration of reading in the country. It aims to motivate children and teens to read through various events and partnerships. Porter-Leath’s participation in this event underscores the importance of early literacy in child development.
