In Memphis, a city celebrated for its vibrant cultural roots, the MVP3 Foundation is forging new opportunities for youth empowerment through the arts. This year, the foundation’s renowned 36-week film and television program at Westwood High School is expanding, offering students not only technical and business skills but also the unique chance to learn acting from accomplished actor Max Arciniega, best known for his roles in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

Led by MVP3 Foundation President Marie Pizano, the program is designed to give students hands-on experience in every aspect of media production, from scriptwriting to filming. By blending academics, mentorship, and real-world training, MVP3 helps students build confidence, develop creative problem-solving skills, and discover new ways to express themselves. This comprehensive approach is helping boost academic performance and emotional resilience in communities where opportunities can be limited.

This year’s expansion is especially exciting: students will take part in online and in-person acting classes taught by Max Arciniega, who brings decades of Hollywood experience to Memphis classrooms. His involvement is about more than teaching acting skills—it’s about inspiring young people to believe in their own stories and dreams. As Arciniega shares, his hope is that students will leave the program inspired to pursue their dreams, equipped with a solid understanding of the entertainment industry.

The MVP3 Foundation’s mission goes beyond the arts. Its programs offer workforce preparedness, financial literacy, and career guidance, aiming to break cycles of poverty and help Memphis youth build sustainable futures. Students are not just learning how to act or make films—they’re gaining the skills and support needed to become independent and successful adults.

The impact is already visible. Students are participating in paid internships, contributing to real documentaries, and collaborating with industry professionals. This year, new opportunities in radio, sports, and news casting are also being introduced, with special guests from the sports world joining as mentors.

Principal Dr. Trenton Watson expresses the community’s gratitude: “Westwood is blessed to have this program. We need every resource possible to help our kids succeed at a high level.”

Through the MVP3 Foundation, Memphis youth are discovering their voices, telling their stories, and stepping confidently into the spotlight—showing that with the right support, the next generation can transform not just their own lives, but the entire community.
