The Mission of Justice for Cameron Inc. is to provide support for the community and families of the victims of gun violence through education, prevention, advocacy, and awareness.  Because of Covid-19, the organization did not host an art show last year, but today is a new team and the team is geared up and ready to go.  High School and Middle School students can submit their images starting today.  All entries must be in by March 15th, 2021.  Click here to enter or learn more.

A LIFE WITH A PURPOSE
God presented Cameron William Selmon to the world on September 14, 1996. His mom, Stacie, was so overjoyed with her precious baby boy. Growing up, he was blessed with two proud fathers, Marvin Selmon and Bryan Payne Sr. Everyone looked out for him, wanting only the very best.

Cameron was always excited about attending Sunday School and going to church at Knight’s Chapel in Hernando, MS. When he was 11 years old, he and his family joined Cummings Street Missionary Baptist Church where he was baptized in 2007.

Cameron attended several schools in the Memphis area throughout his educational journey and made many friends along the way. As a first-grader, he made all A’s. As he moved to second grade, he became a student author. His passion for track and football began his third-grade year. To be a small guy on the football field, Cameron wasn’t afraid to tackle. “Lil C” as he was affectionately known, was tough as a Titan could be. As a fifth-grader, he worked diligently and won 1st place in the Science Fair at Southwind Elementary School. He was accomplishing many great things.

Cameron began to show off his vocal talent at Colonial Middle School. As a member of Colonial’s Choir, he traveled to places like Hawaii and participated in several competitions. He was a talented artist and could paint almost anything. Cameron loved traveling with his family during spring break and other special occasions. Cameron knew that he could attain any goal that he wanted to achieve. He graduated from Southwind High School in 2014 and was on his way to accomplishing many great things. He aspired to become a dentist to help create beautiful smiles like his own, and attending Southwest Tennessee Community College had given him a great start.

Cameron began his first job in his early teens working with dad and granddad on heavy equipment and machines. He earned the right to brag about pouring concrete in several places throughout the city. Kroger and UPS were two jobs that he enjoyed. He loved helping people, meeting new people, and smiling along the way. He was accomplishing some great things.

Cameron was also known as “Lil Cam”; he had his own style and swag. He loved setting trends and wearing the latest fashions. Many times he could be seen with his “J’s on”. His dancing was certainly hilarious and entertaining, somewhat difficult to explain. “Watch Cam Whip and Do the Nae Nae!” Cameron loved to have fun, sometimes he was like a comedian with no charge. He was always very helpful at home, not just to his family, but to neighbors, friends, and everyone. He was proud that he could plug a tire and change a flat, not calling for roadside assistance. Cam knew many young people his age couldn’t do that. That’s who Cameron was…….an easy-going, easy spirited young man with a beautiful personality.

On October 22, 2015, God gave him wings to fly higher than ever before.
